Republicans dying faster!

 Reap what you sow folks!

A new study shows that States which have a higher percentage of Republicans also have a higher mortality rate from Covid-19! (A new poll shows 50% of unvaccinated Trump voters say they will 'never' get inoculated for COVID.)

Thin the herd folks..., thin the herd!

Get COVID..., or go to hell!

THIS my friends, is why I don't like any form of organized religion:

New Orleans Archdiocese Asks Catholics to Avoid Johnson & Johnson COVID Vaccine!

Basically, they don't want their parishioners to get a life-saving vaccination against COVID 19 because they are using medicine derived from an aborted fetus back in 1970!

In a statement on Friday, the archdiocese noted that while deciding whether to receive the vaccine is an individual choice, that “the latest vaccine from Janssen/Johnson & Johnson is morally compromised as it uses the abortion-derived cell line in development and production of the vaccine as well as the testing.”

While a number of COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers have used cells originally derived from an aborted fetus in the 1970s, the archdiocese argues that Johnson & Johnson “extensive use” is worse than that of Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines, which used the cells lines only to test their vaccines, according to Religion News Service. This makes the “connection to abortion … extremely remote,” in the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines, the statement argues, recommending that Catholics choose one of those instead, if provided a choice.

Yes, boys and girls, ya might get COVID-19 and die because of a religious belief...,     BUT AT LEAST YA WON'T GO TO HELL!

The way I see it anyway!

The in's and out's of COVID vaccines!

Johnson and Johnson is about to get a vaccine approved for general use and that brings the number of available shots to three, but there are some differences that you should note!

Both Pfizer and Moderna have an efficacy rate of about 95% but Moderna only requires moderate refrigeration while Pfizer needs special cold boxes to keep the vaccine at -90 C.

The Johnson and Johnson vaccine meanwhile, only needs regular refrigeration..., and can do the job with ONE-SHOT! (The only problem is that the efficacy rate is around 75%. More on this)

All of the vaccines prevent people from getting the severe version of COVID and in urban centers both Pfizer and Moderna would be the "shot-of-choice" but out in the country and over in third world countries the Johnson and Johnson vaccine is the way to go since it only requires the one-shot! Plus..., it helps bring the level of "herd immunity" up considerably which makes up for the slightly less effective vaccine!.

SO!

Pfizer and Moderna for the city folk!

Johnson and Johnson for the country folks!

Simple eh?

Sunday 31 January 2021

Maybe we just need one shot?

There is a lot of talk about which vaccination to use and how effective they are..., so I am going to propose something that probably does the best job!

Pfizer and Moderna had an efficacy rate of 95% but Pfizer needs to be stored at a ridiculously low temperature while Moderna just needs to be stored in a normal refrigerator! (Both need 2 shots for full efficacy. Advantage Moderna..., because of refrigeration method!)

Johnson & Johnson can be stored in a refrigerator and only needs ONE-SHOT! (Efficacy rate 70%)

But:

Moderna has an efficacy rate of 80% with the FIRST shot!

SO:

Give ONE shot of the Moderna in large population centers..., and save the Johnson & Johnson for more isolated areas! (Since it is OK to administer for 3 full months unlike one month for modern!)

Then:

Jab away!

Blacks not allowed!

It didn't occur to me until today, but with all those videos of the rioters in Washington, D.C. on January 6th I didn't see one black person in the crowds!

It was a whites-only party folks!

We've all become used to the narrative that Trump supporters are as prejudiced as he is..., but this realization of the January 6th riots really brought it home to me!

Oh, no one made any mention of the fact that blacks weren't allowed..., but the proof was in the pudding..., or should we say video!

Let's hope that this shameful episode of American history (Trump) is slowly drawing to a close so that we can once again stand beside our southern neighbours instead of closing the door to any contact..., covid or no covid!

Monday 11 January 2021

Washee, washee!

For the past year, everybody has been washing their hands and wiping down everything they might touch with disinfectant..., but it turns out this might have been overkill!

In a newly published study, scientists found that the coronavirus was transmitted mostly through airborne means and not nearly so much from countertops and other surfaces since the virus is rather fragile when it isn't doing nasty stuff inside you!

The end result of all this info is that you should wear a mask MORE and wash your hands LESS! (Don't stop..., just don't wash to the point where you scrub the top layer of skin off!)

The way I see it anyway!

Sunday 10 January 2021

Poor countries need vaccines too!

As of this writing, there are literally billions of people in the poorer countries of the world who will see no hope of receiving the Coronavirus vaccine for at least two or three years..., and this is a situation that needs to be fixed right away!

Not only will immediate aid for the vaccine do wonders for the people in the third world but it will benefit us as well by stamping out the pandemic as quickly as possible. (It can't get transmitted back and forth!)

The First World and vaccine developers need to get together immediately and figure out a way to supply the poorer countries with enough medicine to assure that this plague doesn't drag on for years when it could be defeated in months if everybody co-operated!

The way I see it anyway!

Wednesday 23 December 2020

Asshole of the week!

The head of a group that organizes anti-restrictions rallies across the country has been charged again for his role in a St. Thomas demonstration – the third time he’s been cited under Ontario’s pandemic law. (Throw the book at him!)

Lamont Daigle is charged under the Reopening Ontario Act with organizing an outdoor gathering exceeding the permitted limit, his group, The Line Canada, said.

Daigle, who received a summons to appear in a St. Thomas court on Jan. 14, is the co-founder and president of the self-described civil liberties organization behind a wave of recent rallies challenging the government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In response to these demonstrations sweeping across the province, police have charged organizers – and even participants – for violating the Reopening Ontario Act, the emergency law imposed to slow the spread of the pandemic.

“The police have been targeting all the main players in the protest,” George Roche, the executive director of The Line Canada, said Tuesday.

“We can all agree that this is unconstitutional. We have a right to peaceful assembly . . . why are the police cooperating with this?”

WELL MR. DAIGLE, YOU ARE INFRINGING THE RIGHTS OF OTHER PEOPLE TO REMAIN SAFE BY NOT WEARING A MASK YOURSELF!

Hopefully, this guy, and others like him, will have the full weight of the law come down on him!

The way I see it anyway!

Oh to sink so low!

This is one of the reasons I am so glad I'm a Canadian and not an American.

Those fuckers in the Republican Party, as one of their MANY sins, kept downplaying the severity of the COVID pandemic and the necessity of getting a vaccination... yet when it came time to get their own shots they were like Trump when he pushed Montenegro Prime Minister Dusko Markovic out of the way:

Over the weekend, senators Lindsey Graham and Marco Rubio posted photos of themselves getting inoculated on the very same Twitter accounts they downplayed the coronavirus and encouraged unsafe gatherings.

Actor Billy Baldwin probably coined it best: “Lindsey Graham and Marco Rubio getting COVID-19 vaccinations first is the equivalent of men who dressed as women in order to escape the sinking Titanic.”

Television host Elizabeth Vargas wrote Sunday, “I have tweeted about how moving it was to see all those doctors and nurses getting these first vaccines. It still is. But I am also angry watching lawmakers who denigrated the dangers of this virus and mocked mask-wearing, now lining up to get one before my 84 yr old dad can.”

"Just another example of how low the Republicans have sunk folks!"

Follow up to "Fox News is KILLING people!

I received some feedback this week about the blog I wrote telling you that Fox News might be responsible for as many deaths as Trump himself with their downplaying, and even rejection of wearing masks when out in public and also about the dangers of Covid-19! (They even went so far as to suggest that it was a hoax!)

Just to set the record straight I will let you watch this:

Thursday 17 December 2020

FOX NEWS IS DANGEROUS!

I was just watching that Fucker Carlson on Fox News because it's become a habit of mine to see just how far they can twist the news... when I was absolutely gob-smacked by what I heard.

This Fucker said (in a roundabout way) that vaccines were dangerous... so don't take them... and people should go see relatives and friends because it was safe to do so!

In their roundabout way, they said that Tony Fauci had told everyone NOT to go see friends and relatives for Thanksgiving... but people did anyway... and nothing happened

A LIE, A THOUSAND TIMES A LIE! (The current spike in Covid infections is the direct result of all the holiday travelling over Thanksgiving!)

Like I said folks...., Fox News should be taken off the air before they kill as many people as Trump has!!!!!!

The way I see it anyway!

Saturday 5 December 2020

Take this mask and shove it!

I went to Sarnia to visit my mother today and drove by city hall to look at the "anti-mask" protesters who have been gathering there every Wednesday and Saturday afternoon!

Small anti-mask demonstrations have been taking place at Sarnia City for some time, Mayor Mike Bradley says.

The mayor said a “persistent” group of between 10 and 20 people have been demonstrating outside city hall each Wednesday and Saturday afternoon in recent weeks.

The Line Canada, a self-described civil rights group has plans to hold rallies on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons in Sarnia. The group opposes restrictions imposed to slow the spread of the virus, and questions the science behind public health decisions.

Const. Giovanni Sottosanti said Sarnia police are watching the reports of a possible larger demonstration.

This is a picture taken today of Sarnia City Hall and the location of the Anti-Mask rallies!

(The reason you don't see the anti-mak demonstraters is that they are now all in the hospital with COVID-19!)

Almost ALL Covid transmission happens in 5 places!

CNN's chief medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta, MD, says not everything has to shut down because the majority of COVID transmission happens in just five places.

1. Restaurants

2. Bars

3. Cafes

4. Church

5. Hotels

Now as far as hotels are concerned... these are the spots to be wary of:

1. Breakfast Buffets

2. Elevator buttons

3. Door Handles

4. Fitness centers, spas and pools

5. Air conditioner buttons

5. Phones

6. Vending machines

Unfortunately, not everyone has the same hygiene habits so these are the minimum precautions everyone should take!

BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS 🎅

What a great poem.  Author unknown. We are all in this together.  Stay safe and keep well.

T’was a month before Christmas,And all through the town,People wore masks,That covered their frown.

The frown had begun Way back in the Spring, When a global pandemic Changed everything. They called it corona, But unlike the beer, It didn’t bring good times, It didn’t bring cheer.

Contagious and deadly, This virus spread fast, Like a wildfire that starts When fueled by gas.

Airplanes were grounded,Travel was banned. Borders were closed Across air, sea and land.

As the world entered lockdownTo flatten the curve, The economy halted, And folks lost their verve.

From March to July We rode the first wave, People stayed home, They tried to behave. When summer emerged The lockdown was lifted. But away from caution, Many folks drifted. Now it’s November And cases are spiking, Wave two has arrived, Much to our disliking.

Frontline workers, Doctors and nurses,Try to save people, From riding in hearses. This virus is awful, This COVID-19. There isn’t a cure. There is no vaccine.

It’s true that this year Has had sadness a plenty, We’ll never forget The year 2020. And just ‘round the corner -The holiday season, But why be merry? Is there even one reason?

To decorate the house And put up the tree, When no one will see it, No-one but me. But outside my window The snow gently falls, And I think to myself,  Let’s deck the halls!

So, I gather the ribbon, The garland and bows, As I play those old carols, My happiness grows.

Christmas ain’t cancelled And neither is hope. If we lean on each other, I know we can cope.

So for those staying home, Safe out of sight, Merry Christmas to ya all, May it be extra bright!

To mask or not to mask

London police have charged three women who they say organized a rally to protest COVID-19 restrictions that drew about 200 people to Victoria Park on Sunday.

The London women — aged 36, 37 and 44 — all face the same two charges under the Reopening Ontario Act: hosting an outdoor gathering exceeding provincial limits and taking part in an outdoor gathering exceeding provincial limits.

The women face fines ranging from $750 to $10,000.

Police said they contacted the organizers before the rally to let them they know they could face charges if they went ahead.

“Regardless of whether or not the organizers were warned in advance, there have been warnings from the community and the province for many months,” London police spokesperson Const. Sandasha Bough said.

London police officers attended the rally Sunday and determined the number of people in the crowd exceeded the limit for outdoor gatherings, which is set at 25, police said. Police estimate about 200 people attended the rally.

Similar rallies have been held this fall in communities across Ontario, and in Southwestern Ontario particularly, to protest COVID-19 restrictions.

But unlike recent rallies in Woodstock, St. Thomas and Aylmer, charges followed relatively swiftly after the London event.

“Gathering limits have changed and we have reminded the public a number of times,” Bough said.

The London women are not the first to be charged in the province for organizing rallies. Hamilton police have laid charges twice for demonstrations there, Bough said.

London police do not identify people charged with provincial offences, but one of the organizers said she is a nurse at the London Health Sciences Centre.

The current cap on outdoor gatherings is 25 people, while indoor gatherings are capped at 10. Since the weekend, London police also have laid charges relating to house parties early Sunday and Saturday night.

The protesters object to restrictions such as mandatory masks and limits on gatherings because of what they see as government encroachment into the lives of private citizens.

The largest protest so far was in Aylmer, where an estimated 2,000 people turned out Nov. 7, despite the town’s mayor declaring a state of emergency.

A rally in St. Thomas on Nov. 14 attracted a crowd of about 200 and a protest in Woodstock on Nov. 15 drew about 75 people.

So far, no charges have come out of those protests.

“We cannot comment on the event as we were not part of the organizing team,” a spokesperson for The Line Canada, an anti-restriction group involved in promoting some rallies, said Wednesday.

The three women have a court date of Feb. 22 in provincial court.

It's my party and I'll cry if I want to!

At last, some Americans with a bit of common sense!

A Maryland man has been sentenced to one year in jail after throwing multiple parties in violation of the state’s COVID-19 social distancing orders.

Shawn Marshall Myers, 42, of Hughesville, held two big parties in late March after Governor Larry Hogan banned gatherings consisting of more than 10 people.

According to a press release from the Charles County State’s Attorney’s Office, Myers was convicted of two counts of Failure to Comply with an Emergency Order on Sept. 25 and sentenced to one year in prison, followed by a three-year period of unsupervised probation.

Myers’ legal troubles began on March 22 when police arrived at his Hughesville residence after receiving multiple reports of a large gathering underway, the state’s attorney’s office said.

According to police, Myers was hosting about fifty people. Myers was initially “argumentative” with officers, the state’s attorney’s office said. Police informed him that the gathering was a violation of the governor’s State of Emergency and Large Gathering Orders, which states that “a person who knowingly and willfully violates this Order is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to imprisonment not exceeding one year or a fine not exceeding $5,000 or both.”

However, he eventually agreed to shut down the festivities, according to the state’s attorney’s office.

But just five days later Myers was back to hosting, throwing another, even larger party – and this time, he refused to shut things down when police arrived.

“Officers told Myers to disband the party, but again he was argumentative claiming he and his guests had the right to congregate,” the state’s attorney’s office said in the press release.

“Beyond being argumentative, Myers directed his guests to stay in defiance of Governor Hogan’s Orders and the officers’ lawful orders to disband the party. Officers tried to reason with Myers and obtain his cooperation to no avail. Myers was then apprehended.”

In addition to his year-long sentence and three years of probation, District Court Judge W. Louis Hennessy also ordered Myers to pay a fine of US$5,000.

Maryland is in the process of gradually reopening after months of social distancing measures. As of Sept. 29, the state has recorded 123,880 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 3,793 confirmed deaths from the virus, according to Maryland’s tracking website.

AND NOW FOR THE REST OF THE STORY!

Thursday 10 September 2020

A Change is Gonna Come!

I had the Perspective Research Department look into how COVID-19 might affect us in the long run and they came up with some interesting scenarios!

Large swaths of the cruise-ship and theme-park industries might go away. So could many movie theaters and minor-league sports teams.
The long-predicted demise of traditional department stores would finally come to pass.
Thousands of restaurants would be wiped out. (Even if they would be replaced by other restaurants)

The point is that companies with flawed business models can look healthy in good times. Out of habit, many customers will continue to buy from them. But when the economy weakens, people have to make decisions about where to pull back and they often start with products and services that they find the least valuable or that they can replace with a cheaper alternative.

A downturn, says Emily Oster, a Brown University economist, “is an opportunity to revisit inefficiencies.” And the coronavirus is likely to cause a larger version of this phenomenon than a typical recession.

                                           ***

Local newspapers will be another casualty. They were already struggling, because Google, Facebook and Craigslist had taken away their main source of revenue: print advertising.

Between 2008 and 2019, American newspapers eliminated about half of all newsroom jobs.

The virus has led to further declines in advertising and more job cuts — and could end up forcing dozens more papers to fold or become tiny shells of their old selves.

If that happens, their cities will be left without perhaps the only major source of information about local politics, business, education and the like.

***

Traditional department stores are another example. In recent years, they have lost significant business to online retailers and quietly lost even more to big-box stores. (London is a perfect example... two of the five big regional malls here have re-purposed themselves to be multi-functional with less emphasis on retail sales!)

Many Americans have decided they prefer either specialty stores (like Home Depot) or discount stores (like Costco) over the one-stop-shopping experience that Sears, Macy’s and J.C. Penney have long offered.

Now the virus has interrupted in-person shopping and caused many consumers to shift even more business online, to Amazon, Target and Walmart. “The retailers doing fair to poorly are absolutely not coming out of this,” said Mark Cohen, a former executive at Sears and Federated Department Stores who teaches at Columbia Business School. “Many, many of them are going to fail, have already failed or will fail when they reopen.”

If they do, they will create spillover victims — the hundreds of malls that rely on department stores for rent and foot traffic. The roughly 250 fancier malls around the country, like The Westchester in suburban New York and The Galleria in Houston, are likely to survive, Mr. Cohen predicted.

Some will convert old stores into spaces for experiences, like dining, bowling, medical care or a golf driving range.

***

The virus is exacerbating almost every problem that colleges faced. They have already lost revenue from summer school, food service, parking fees and more.

Perhaps most significant, the recession is hammering state budgets, which will probably lead to future cuts in college funding.

The immediate question is whether colleges will be able to bring back students this fall, as administrators are desperately hoping. If they can’t, enrollment and tuition revenue are likely to drop sharply, creating existential crises for many less selective private colleges and smaller public universities.

Yuval Levin, a conservative policy expert and the founding editor of National Affairs, put it this way: “The top 20 schools are probably not going to change. But what is actually higher education — more than 4,000 universities — I think will change a lot.”

***

Of course, business failures can be healthy. They are part of the “creative destruction” that the economist Joseph Schumpeter famously described, allowing more efficient and innovative rivals to rise. The disappearance of many old department stores won’t be a tragedy if they are replaced by stores people prefer.

But some of the virus-related destruction will have damaging side effects. When local newspapers close, corruption and political polarization tend to rise, while voter turnout tends to fall. Academic research has found cuts to higher-education budgets could make it even harder for poor and middle-class students to graduate.

If you talk to students, parents and teachers about remote learning during the pandemic — from preschool through college — they’re likely to tell you that it’s been disappointing

It went “very, very badly” last spring, Mr. Levin says, and many parents assume it will not be much better this fall.

But if you talk to white-collar workers about their experiences with videoconferencing, you will hear a different story: It doesn’t replace the richness of in-person conversations, but many meetings work perfectly well over Zoom, FaceTime or Google Meet.

***

Millions of workers are returning to the office or will be soon. Many have no choice, including teachers, janitors and retail workers. But for many white-collar workers, the remote-work experiment shows no sign of ending — a trend that could depress the commercial real-estate market and business travel long after a vaccine is available.

Twitter has told many employees that they can plan to work from home forever

In New York, several major companies, including Barclays, JP Morgan Chase and Morgan Stanley, have said they don’t expect to use as much Manhattan office space as they did before the pandemic.

As Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s chief executive, said this spring, “We’ve seen two years’ worth of digital transformation in two months.”

Working from home creates its own efficiencies — less time spent on traffic-clogged roads, more flexibility for parents and people caring for elderly relatives.

***

“Business travel is going to fundamentally change.”

In-person meetings and conferences will continue to happen. But the threshold for what requires travel, and the time, cost and fatigue it brings, will rise.

“Maybe we’ve discovered that we don’t need to travel as much as we did before,” said Cecilia Rouse, the dean of Princeton’s School of Public and International Affairs. American Airlines and Delta Air Lines recently offered buyouts to employees, and Airbus cut thousands of jobs, signs that the companies expect airline travel to be depressed for years.

***

As of this writing (September 10th, 2020) colleges and Universities are already noticing marked increases in Coronavirus infections and how they react to it will determine if they become a traditional institution in the future or delegate themselves to being an on-line academy!

                                             ***

There is only one thing for sure... and that is that whatever happens in the future you can bet that this Pandemic will drastically alter society in ways that we cannot even imagine yet!

The way I see it anyway!

How to Prevent COVID-19

* With excerpts from the Rachel Maddow show on MSNBC!

Following 46 cases of bleach ingestions in the North Texas Poison Center region since the start of August, experts are again warning people that drinking BLEACH won’t prevent COVID-19. (The organization pointed to “misleading and inaccurate information circulating online about how to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” for an uptick in poisonings.)

The FDA has long warned that drinking chlorine dioxide products can lead to “severe vomiting, severe diarrhea, life-threatening low blood pressure caused by dehydration and acute liver failure.”

The potentially deadly misinformation that drinking or injecting bleach to kill the coronavirus was amplified by Donald Trump.

The poisonings in North Texas are a reminder of the consequences of this president’s lies and misinformation.

The presidential platform is the most powerful in the world, and as the Trump has been handed two hours of primetime airtime this week for the Republican convention, it is important to remember that not only will some people believe these lies, they will act on them.

The only way that drinking bleach can prevent the coronavirus is that it will kill you... and then you don't have to worry about COVID-19.

The way I see it anyway
