Our democracy can (and has been) defined as one “…of the people, by the people, and for the people…”.
Our public office holders are STILL, just ordinary citizens, governed by the same laws and legal system, that we all are.
The office they hold does not, and SHOULD not, make any special exceptions for them.
Ian Bremmer, a U.S. political commentator and president of the Eurasia Group was being interviewed on the CBC today!
Ian had this timely forecast:
"If Joe Biden loses the election... the Trump camp will probably try to get the DOJ to charge him with some sort of crime AND ATTEMPT TO PUT HIM IN JAIL... as Drumpf seeks a "get even" for any real and/or perceived slights!"
"If Donald Drumpf loses the election he's 100% GOING TO JAIL!" 😊

They held a big rally in Montreal today and all sorts of people were protesting the fact that they had to wear surgical masks when they went out in public!
They claimed it was an infringement of their rights!
Well no..., if they had any sense at all they would know that not wearing a mask infringes on OUR rights!
Ya don't wear a mask to protect yourself against COVID-19 kids... you wear it to protect OTHER people. (If you got the bug it prevents you from spreading it!)
What this boils down to folks is that if these assholes want to kill themselves then that it their God-given right.... but by not wearing a mask they put you and me at risk!
The people of Taiwan, who number about 25 million, have only had 10 deaths since this whole pandemic thing started!
Why? You ask!
BECAUSE THEY FOLLOW THE RULES!
Let me suggest that a first offence for not wearing a mask should be a $100 fine!
A second offence is a $500 fine!
A third offence... you're thrown in jail!

As we dutifully watch what is happening down in the United States it might be useful to remember something that happened way back during the reign of Henry 11 of England!
It was in 1170, and Thomas à Becket, the head of the Church in England was resisting the King’s attempt to subordinate the Church courts to the civil courts. (You could say he was the closest thing in 12th century England to a leader of the opposition.)
Henry II was beside himself and in the course of one of his rants against the cleric he said: “Who will rid me of this meddlesome priest?”
Four knights at the court, hearing this, decided the quickest way to rise in the king’s service was to go to Canterbury and do just that.
They found Becket on the altar of his cathedral and hacked him to pieces with their swords. (This caused a great outcry throughout Christendom, and the king had to swear it was all a ghastly misunderstanding... he had only been venting, not giving actual orders.)
WELL: Donald Drumpf might not be convicted for some of his rants that have resulted in crimes by his supporters... but it could add to the phenomenally long list of charges we already have waiting eh!
