All the fuss and bother about quickly nominating a new Supreme Court Judge has a reason behind it that most people didn't consider!
The Republicans don't think Drumpf will win the next election!
They want to force feed the new Justice to the American public before Drumpf is thrown out and/or the Republicans lose the Senate as well.
They will probably get Amy Coney Barrett (the odds-on favourite) nominated, and then one of two things will happen.
They will either Impeach Drumpf again (And maybe Barr too.) and the Senate will be tied up until after January 20th, 2021........ or they will wait until they get power n the new year and appoint a bunch of new judges to get the number of Supreme court members up to 11, 13, or even 15... with a clear Democratic majority!
The way I see it anyway!
