The U.S. has tried to invade Canada 4 times... and lost each time!

My "Perspective Artificial Intelligence" (A.I.) SAL-9000 brings us up to date on the state of the States!

SAL-9000: The United States attempted to invade Canada four notable times in history:

  1. American Revolutionary War (1775-1776):

    • Objective: To bring Canada into the revolution against Britain.
    • Key Events: The U.S. launched the Quebec Expedition, capturing Montreal but failing in the assault on Quebec City.
    • Outcome: The invasion was unsuccessful... and "Canadian" forces maintained control of Canada.
  2. War of 1812 (1812-1815):

    • Objective: Driven by territorial ambitions and retaliation against British trade restrictions and support for Native American resistance, the U.S. aimed to annex Canadian territories.
    • Key Events: Multiple invasions occurred, including campaigns along the Great Lakes and into Ontario. (Also where I live... in the "Battle of Snake Hill" ...in the west end of London, Ontario!)
    • Outcome: The invasions were repelled, and the war ended with the Treaty of Ghent restoring pre-war boundaries.
  3. Patriot War (1837-1838) (Unofficial and largely independent of the U.S. government):

    • Objective: American sympathizers supported Canadian rebels during the Rebellions of 1837 against British colonial rule.
    • Key Events: Raids from U.S. territory into Canada by groups like the Hunter Patriots.
    • Outcome: These invasions failed, and the U.S. government suppressed further cross-border raids to maintain neutrality.
  4. Fenian Raids (1866-1871) (Led by Irish-American militants, not the U.S. government):

    • Objective: The Fenian Brotherhood, composed of Irish-American veterans, sought to capture Canadian territory to pressure Britain into granting Irish independence.
    • Key Events: Several cross-border incursions, including the Battle of Ridgeway.
    • Outcome: The raids were unsuccessful, and U.S. authorities eventually clamped down on Fenian activities.

While only the first two invasions were official U.S. military campaigns, the latter two involved U.S.-based groups with varying degrees of government tolerance before being suppressed.

So there ya have it, folks... the S.O.B.s down south can't be trusted... and Canadians should REMEMBER THAT!

(I hope we don't have to burn down the "White House" again!)
