Allan:
I was born in Iran and due to my profession, I have worked in many countries from Middle East countries, East of Asia to Africa, Europe and finally ended up here in Canada as a skilled worker immigrant.
I know very well the other nationalities' feedback about Canada. 99% positive and it is a fabulous reputation for a country.
I think there is not any country to be able to contest with Canada. It is only because Canada has never interfered with any catastrophic human crisis so far. It always brings a good sense and thought of peace and friendship with its own name. It is very valuable. I deeply appreciate it and also the people who could achieve it.
I hope we have the same feeling about other countries. A world without any war and hostility where people can live together peacefully.
I have read a comment in one of the answers saying that Iran does not like Canada. !!! I should mention that I am Iranian and I know Iran better than others. I am 100% sure that all Iranian love Canada and Canadians for mentioned reasons above. I do not care about a minority who says something wrong and exaggerated by the media.

I’m American and I’ve lived in Canada for 11 years now. I’m from the New York City area and I’ve lived in Washington DC, Toronto and now Edmonton. I’m a huge fan of both countries.
Unfortunately, I don’t think Canadians have a moral high ground over their southernly neighbours.
To answer the question I’d say life is really not all that different in the US vs Canada. When you look at the hundreds of countries in the world. The US and Canada are more like each other than they are like any other country.
On the whole, Canada is a bit easier going than the US. The business culture is a little slower and people, in general, take a little less risk and enjoy life a bit more.
Life is easier here so people don’t face as much adversity and tend to avoid it if possible. I mean, the military is almost non-existent here now.
Canada is also a bit more family-oriented than the US. People rarely make decisions where they put work over family. It’s very much Shangra-la if a steady, secure and conflict-free life appeals to you.
The US on the whole is more industrious, more aggressive and more adventurous. We’re always looking for ways to make things better no matter how hard it may seem.
The status quo just isn’t good enough.
The American dream is the embodiment of that risk-taker mentality that we were all born with. We tend to “do” more than “be”. The “doing” urge occasionally causes Americans to put work over family.
As with anything these are gross generalizations. You can find tons of “go get ems” in Canada and you can find plenty of laid-back folks in the US.
Both countries stand for similar rights and freedoms and are admirable in doing so. They can both be great. There is room for two at the top. And they both are there!
