ALLAN: Canadians exhibit a sense of superiority to Americans on the internet. Is that also their true feeling in real life?
***
Nancy Harris, I'm an American who has travelled a lot and who has many Canadian friends.
I am confident that Canadians are superior in many ways to Americans.
For openers, Canada has more guns per capita than Americans, but they do not have the high incidences of mass shooting America has.
They do not ascribe to the silly gun culture or use religion to assert superiority over others.
Their media is not fear-based and fear-mongering.
I find more Canadians who are refreshingly moral, kind, caring, personable, emotionally mature, and reasonable than Americans.
But maybe it's just a coincidence. 😀

We don't want to offend anyone…

My husband lived there for 18 months and loved it.
I'm an American, my ancestors have been here since the Mayflower, and I consider myself very patriotic.
Too many Americans are adolescents in their attitudes.
I don't see Canadians as having a sense of superiority over Americans; the ones I've known don't; they are too civil and mature for that silliness.

An American would never behave like that.
After all, we both spoke English.

Bill Bennet When I was in Montreal, Canadians spoke better English than I do.
They had no accent that I could discern. But they wouldn't give me directions when I was lost if I didn't speak French.
All the business presentations were done equally for Canadians and Americans, yet the presenters would only speak in French, even though they were fluent in English.
We have yet to learn what the presentations were as a result.
You wouldn't get that in Chicago.
