Is BioPanentheism Dualistic?
- Panentheism: The larger category that BioPanentheism falls under, which holds that the Divine is both Immanent (Present in all parts of the universe.) and Transcendent! (Greater than the Universe!)
- Non-Dualism: The Belief that there is no fundamental division or separation between different aspects of Reality. For example, in non-Dual systems, the individual Self (ātman) is ultimately not separate from Ultimate Reality! (brahman)
- BioPanentheism: A specific hypothesis within Panentheism suggesting that Conscious Life is the mechanism through which the Divine Experiences and becomes Aware of the Universe.
- This does not propose a dualistic separation between mind and body, but rather sees Consciousness as an emergent property of biological processes... and a channel for Divine Reflection!
- Integrated reality: BioPanentheism sees the "Divine" as the organizing principle of Awareness that arises from Biological Complexity. It is not an external, separate Being, but rather the Internal Experience of Life Itself!
- Redefines Divinity: The concept of "God" in BioPanentheism is a process, not a separate, all-powerful Entity. It is the Universe Subjectively Experiencing Itself through the development of complex, Conscious Life!
- Resolves the mind-body problem: By not separating the mind (or soul) from the body, BioPanentheism avoids the Dualistic notion of a Separate Soul that is merely associated with a physical form. Instead, it suggests the 'Self' is an activity of the Universe!
