Although I propose that our "Consciousness / Sentience" is the presence of what we call "God“ within us, (a Soul) it is not, in any way, a scientifically established fact! (And I’m not a scientist by any stretch of imagination either!) Actually, the whole concept of a "SOUL" appears to be outside the purview of the scientific method... since any proof for the existence of a ‘Prime Mover’ is "Ab Extra...!" (‘From without!’) But we do present more than enough circumstantial evidence for this hypothesis to make it fall within the academic realm of possibility! Allan W Janssen

At a rational level, disputes about the nature of religion could fill many books without benefiting anyone. (I cannot persuade anyone to adopt a different religious perspective only through rational proof and logic. This may be possible in science, but not in religion.) Otherwise, everyone would already be one faith! However, rational proofs must be considered because we are rational beings! Reason should never be rejected… and faith proclaimed as the only way of knowing the truth. No divorce between reason and experience should be accepted because they are complementary and work together. Neither should exclude the other!

WHAT ARE THE CHANCES?

This book is a collection of thoughts from different people (including me) who might have some insight into how this world came about ..., and the chances of our long-term survival on this planet! Although we touch upon various theological and scientific arguments within these pages, it should be noted that I attempted to present these ideas in more of a common-sense approach to what would otherwise be very dry and ponderous subject!

The Nature of Consciousness has been a longstanding enigma that has fascinated scientists, philosophers, and theologians for centuries. It is the very essence of human experience, giving rise to self-awareness, thoughts, emotions, and the ability to perceive the world. While religious and spiritual traditions often attribute Consciousness to the presence of a higher power, the scientific community takes a different approach to understanding this phenomenon. This book explores the scientific view of Consciousness and how it relates to the concept of ‘the presence of God within us!’
